Expired car tag leads to drug trafficking bust and arrest of Smyrna woman

A Smyrna woman, Nakyla Yvette Morman, pulled over for an expired license plate, was arrested after drugs and weapons were found inside her vehicle.
According to Marietta police spokesperson Officer Chuck McPhilamy, a Marietta patrol officer pulled over the vehicle with an expired tag on the night of Oct. 10 near the intersection of Fairground and Lawrence streets.
Upon conducting the traffic stop, the officer discovered multiple narcotics and two weapons in the vehicle and arrested Morman, 33.
Morman is the owner of the vehicle and was charged with trafficking cocaine, intent to distribute cocaine, intent to distribute and distributing marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Morman is also accused of possessing a gun with an altered serial number.
Upon her arrest, Morman was transported to the Cobb Adult Detention Center and is being held without bond.
