South Cobb Juicy Crab ‘Dine and Dash’ suspect arrested for murder

Share

The target was the South Cobb location of the Juicy Crab restaurant on the East-West Connector. The perpetrator was a criminal that had greater issues to worry about than a stolen meal. He was wanted on murder charges and his stolen meal helped lead Police directly to him.

Brian Garfield Fort and friends enjoyed a meal that came to around $100 at The Juicy Crab. Instead of paying, they decided to dine and dash, walking out without paying.

Thinking they had gotten away with this petty theft, Fort left the parking lot but left behind plenty of evidence. An officer responding to the dine-and-dash call found Fort’s cell phone that he left in the booth that he sat in at the restaurant.

Upon examination, Police discovered that the photo on his lock screen was a selfie of Fort. An employee at The Juicy Crab gave police an assist with a picture that they had taken of Fort’s license plate as he fled the restaurant parking lot.

After some initial investigations, the Police were able to get several names associated with the vehicle and ran those names through GCIC. They soon got a GCIC hit for a murder warrant outside of DeKalb County. A license plate reader soon got a hit on Fort’s car, which was in the Brookhaven area. Within hours, Fort was taken into custody.

Fort was wanted for the killing of a man in Decatur earlier this year. Records also reveal that Fort was arrested in Gwinnett County last year for walking around the outside of a high school with a shotgun during a football game.

After a fine meal at Cobb County’s location of the Juicy Crab, Fort’s future meals will now be served by the DeKalb County Jail where shrimp and crab are not on the menu.  Fort is being held there on charges of murder, theft by receiving stolen property, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
