South Cobb businessman Michael M. Murphy appointed by Gov. Kemp to State Board

On Wednesday, February 13, Governor Brian Kemp administered the oath of office to Michael M. Murphy, a distinguished South Cobb businessman and community advocate, appointing him as the newest member of the Board of Juvenile Justice for the state of Georgia. Michael will represent Congressional District 6 on the board.

Michael is the President and CEO of M3 Innovations, LLC, a health and hygiene product marketing firm headquartered in Mableton, GA. As the newest appointee to this board, Michael brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Previously, he held the position of Special Assistant for Special Projects for the Cobb County Chairman until January 2021, and in 2023, he ran for the office of Mayor in the newly established city of Mableton.
M3 Innovations, LLC has a number of entities under its umbrella including distributorship for 360 Health and Hygiene, Switch Lighting USA, as well as an affiliate relationship with Aquatree products in the area of vertical farming featuring micro greens. Most recently, Michael has joined forces with MVMines to address the need for environmental stewardship and the elimination of landfills.
Michael’s past experiences include spending 25 years in corporate America with Ford Marketing Corporation and Dunkin Donuts, Inc. where he served as Purchasing Manager, Director of Quality Control, and Director of Consumer Affairs. In 1990, he achieved the honor of being elected to the Governor’s Council for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Michael’s dedication to public service continued in 1994 when he ran for Congress in Massachusetts’ 9th Congressional District (MA-9). His involvement in both state and federal government positions reflects Michael’s enduring commitment to public service and his active engagement in shaping policies for the betterment of the community.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Michael is a dedicated community advocate, channeling his efforts into various causes such as affordable housing, sustainability projects, health awareness, and environmental improvement initiatives. Michael is past chairman of the Austell Community Taskforce. He is a current board member of the Family Life Restoration Center, Star-C, president of STING, Inc. and a member of the Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership, Inc. Michael continues his commitment to community welfare through his advocacy, which is further demonstrated through his roles as a featured columnist for Spotlight South Cobb News, as well as a guest columnist for the Marietta Daily Journal.
Michael, along with his wife Vanessa, has been a resident of Cobb County since 1999 and currently calls Mableton home. A St. Louis University graduate with a B.S. in Marketing, Michael is also a proud member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
As a community activist, Murphy continues to contribute significantly to the betterment of Cobb County. His appointment to the Board of Juvenile Justice, which comprises 15 members appointed by the Governor, underscores his dedication to improving the juvenile justice system in Georgia.
Governed by Title 49-4A-2, Official Code of Georgia, the Board plays a pivotal role in establishing general policies for the Department of Juvenile Justice, aiming to guide the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders and offer direction to the Commissioner. The Board comprises a diverse group of professionals, attorneys, law enforcement officials, public servants, and others committed to enhancing Georgia’s juvenile justice system.
