Share

The Metro Atlanta community is joining with others in Georgia and around the country who are mourning the loss of Studios Executive Steve Mensch, who was killed in a plane accident. Mensch served as President and Manager of General Operations for Tyler Perry Studios (TPS). He joined the organization in 2016, shortly after Tyler Perry’s acquisition of the former Fort McPherson Army Base. Under Mensch’s leadership, the 330-acre former military property was transformed into one of the largest film and television production lots in the nation. TPS is now a cornerstone of Atlanta’s thriving film industry and set a benchmark for operational excellence.

Cassius F. Butts, Chairman of the Fort Mac LRA Board said, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Steve Mensch. Steve’s vision, dedication, and expertise were central to the incredible success of Tyler Perry Studios and its profound impact on this community. His passing is an immense loss, and our hearts go out to his family and the Tyler Perry Studios team during this difficult time.”

Before joining Tyler Perry Studios, Mensch held prominent roles at Third Rail Studios, Turner Broadcasting, and AT&T. His contributions to the entertainment industry have left an enduring legacy.

“Steve Mensch was an extraordinary leader and a cherished member of our community,” added David Burt, Executive Director of the Fort Mac LRA.

Spotlight joins the Atlanta community in mourning Steve Mensch’s passing and honoring his extraordinary contributions to the metro community, our state, and the entertainment industry.
