Grammy-winning artist Lil Jon has partnered with Exact Sciences Corp., a leader in cancer screening, to launch the “Get Low #2” campaign. Inspired by his hit song “Get Low,” the campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of non-invasive colon cancer screenings. The name serves as both a sequel to the musician’s breakthrough hit and a play on Cologuard, a stool-sample-based home test.
Colon cancer is the third most diagnosed cancer in the U.S., with over 106,000 new cases expected this year. The disease disproportionately affects African Americans, with Black men experiencing the highest diagnosis rates among U.S. males. Despite its prevalence, early detection through screenings can significantly improve treatment outcomes, with a 90% treatability rate in early stages.
Lil Jon, 52, emphasized the importance of regular screenings, particularly for people of color who often avoid medical checkups until symptoms arise. Citing the death of DJ Clark Kent from colon cancer at 58, Lil Jon stressed, “This disease is taking too many lives, especially in the Black community. Screenings can save lives.”
Cologuard test offer convenient, at-home screening options, making it easier for people to prioritize their health. Representatives from Colorguard and Exact Sciences recently promoted these tools at events like the Atlanta Falcons game, distributing information to encourage screenings for individuals over 45.
“We have to remove the stigma and fear around colon cancer discussions,” Lil Jon added. “This is something simple you can do at home that could save your life.”
By leveraging his platform and influence, Lil Jon hopes the “Get Low #2” campaign will inspire widespread participation in colon cancer screening, especially in underserved communities.
