Cobb County District Attorney Flynn Broady announced that a Douglasville man, Jayvias Shermondrae Lott, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for robbing an Austell pharmacy at gunpoint in November 2019.
Lott, 32, pleaded guilty to armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Cobb Superior Court Judge Sonja Brown sentenced him to 15 years behind bars, followed by 10 years probation.
According to the D.A.’s office, on November 10, 2019, a drive-thru customer at Thomas Drugs Pharmacy in Austell reported an armed robbery to the Austell police. The incident involved a man wearing a motorcycle helmet who entered the store with a firearm and demanded prescription drugs.
During the robbery, the assailant ordered all employees to lie on the ground and prevented anyone from leaving. He provided the office manager with a handwritten list of specific drugs and held her at gunpoint while she retrieved the drugs from the safe. Surveillance footage from the pharmacy confirmed these events.
Following the robbery, the man fled on a motorcycle with more than $1,500 worth of prescription drugs, including Endocet, Oxycodone, Oxycontin, Oxymorphone, Promethazine, Alprazolam, and Codeine in various milligrams.
Twelve days later, law enforcement apprehended the suspect, identified as Lott, during an investigation into an unrelated incident.
Detectives in a neighboring county executed a search warrant at Lott’s residence, where they discovered a helmet matching the description worn during the robbery, a black handgun, a black backpack, and various pharmaceutical drugs. Lott was subsequently arrested in connection with the armed robbery at the pharmacy.
