Marcus Allen Carroll, 40, of Dunwoody, has been arrested on charges of stealing mail after allegedly possessing 30 to 40 pounds of mail from various apartment complexes, including the Calibre Brooke Apartment complex in Smyrna.
According to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department, the mail was found in Carroll’s possession on November 19 at 12:46 a.m.
The mail, which came from several units at the Calibre Brooke complex, was taken from multiple mailboxes at the facility’s mail center. Police were able to review security footage from the complex, which showed Carroll approaching the mail station before partially obscuring the camera’s view. Additionally, photos submitted by the original complainant showed locks on the mailboxes had been pried open.

After executing a search warrant at Carroll’s residence, officers discovered several tools commonly used to force entry into metal mailboxes, including crowbars, pry bars, screwdrivers, chisels, and a hammer.
Carroll has been charged with theft by possession of stolen mail and possession of tools used for the commission of a crime. He was arrested at 1:30 a.m. on November 20 and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
Carroll remains in custody on a $15,000 bond, according to jail records.
