Share

Singer Traci Braxton has died at the age of 50 following a private battle with cancer. Traci was married to Kevin Surratt, who confirmed the news of her passing saying, “We have come to a time where we must inform the public that after a year of privately undergoing a series of treatment for Esophageal cancer our beloved Traci Braxton has gone on to glory.”

Traci’s husband, son, mom, sisters, and close friends were by her side when she passed away. Born on April 2, 1971, Traci grew up alongside older brother Michael Jr. and older sister Toni, as well as younger sisters Towanda, Trina, and Tamar.

Big sister Toni shared her passing on Instagram saying, “It is with the utmost regret that we inform you of the passing of our sister, Traci,”  “Needless to say, she was a bright light, a wonderful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a respected performer. We will miss her dearly.”

Other family members and friends also took to social media to share memories of Traci and condolences to the family.

Traci rose to fame on “Braxton Family Values,” a reality show that delved into the lives of Toni Braxton and her sisters. The show premiered in 2011 and showed a close and loving family, with the typical ups and downs of siblings. Compared to her sisters, Traci was seen as one of the quieter ones but she had her moments, just like the rest of her sisters.

Traci became popular from the reality TV show and gained millions of fans. In October 2014, she released a solo debut album, titled “Crash & Burn” following the release of her popular single, “Last Call.”

Traci released another single “Perfect Time” in 2015, before later releasing her second studio album, “On Earth”, in 2018. That project featured the single “Lifeline,” as well as another, “Broken Things,” which saw guest vocals from sisters Toni, Towanda, 48, and Trina, 47.

In addition to her family’s reality show, Traci and her husband Kevin joined the third season of a different reality TV show, “Marriage Boot Camp”.

Some of Traci’s other acting credits include Sinners Wanted, The Christmas Lottery, and Chaaw, which is currently in post-production.
