Terry Cummings wins Democratic nomination in GA House District 39

With 100% of precincts reporting, Attorney Terry Cummings has won the Democratic nomination in Georgia House District 39. Cummings led in the primary runoff with 1,407 votes, or 57%, to DeLancy’s 1,071 votes, or 43%. In this heavily drawn democratic district, Cummings faces Republican Olivia Angel in the November general election.

A retired federal law enforcement officer, Cummings finished a close second during the May primary, with 27% of the vote to 29% received by Monica Delany, an educator and tenants rights activist, who came in first.

The Princeton Gerrymandering Project estimates Democrats will receive 79% of the vote cast in this race in November.
