The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter, shined as bright as diamonds, as they hosted the 27th Annual Unsung Heroines Awards Gala

An unforgettable evening filled with joy and celebration of our community heroines took place as the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter, hosted its 27th Annual Unsung Heroines Awards Gala entitled “Leading Legacy: Shining Bright Through Generations” at the Whitley Hotel on Saturday.
The event was hosted by iconic Atlanta broadcaster Monica Kaufman Pearson and featured a number of nominees, including three fallen Georgia service members. Family members of Sgt. Breonna Moffett, Sgt. Kennedy Sanders, and Staff Sgt. William Rivers attended as each service member was honored and presented with the Presidential Award posthumously. Moffett, Sanders, and Rivers lost their lives in the wake of a drone attack on January 28.
Among the other nominees was Cobb Democracy Center Executive Director, Dr. Monica Wills Brown. The 2024 Unsung Heroine honorees include:
Catalyst Award: Dr. Monica Wills Brown
Humanitarian Award: Eslene Richmond-Shockley
Millennial Award: Stacey Chavis
Pioneer Award: Roselyn Lewis
Trailblazer Award: Eulonda Washington
Unsung Heroines Award: Gabrielle Dillard, Temple Lester, and Cameryn Polk
The three service members honored were killed in a weekend drone attack at a base in Jordan in January. They were part of the 718th Engineer Company, 926th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade. Each were army reservists based in Georgia.
