Sheriff Craig Owens to host 33rd Annual ‘Shrimp Boilin’

On Monday, July 8, the public is invited to attend the 33rd Annual Cobb County Sheriff’s Low Country Shrimp Boilin’. The event will be held at Jim Miller Park and Event Center from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Chelsey McNeil, 11Alive News meteorologist, will serve as the MC for the family-friendly event that will offer attendees tasty eats including a low-country seafood boil, barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, corn, coleslaw, ice cream, and fresh fruit. Fun for the kids includes inflatables, face painting, and other activities.

In addition to the public, plenty of elected officials are expected to attend the event from both sides of the aisle to join in on the excitement. Sheriff Owens commented on the event saying, “I am excited to bring the Cobb County community together under one roof. In the age of hyper-partisanship and polarization, I see this as an opportunity to show Georgia and the country that there is more that unites us than separates us, including good food. We are united under the banner of public safety, and I look forward to standing and eating as one community.”

The event is paid for by the Friends of Craig Owens. Tickets are $35 for adults and children 12 years old and younger are free.
