Quaker Oats recalls granola products over concerns of salmonella contamination

Share

Quaker Oats, which is owned by PepsiCo, has issued a recall for several of its granola products, including granola oats cereals and Quaker Chewy Bars, due to potential contamination with salmonella.

Salmonella infections can lead to symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain, with rare cases resulting in fatalities, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Salmonella infections are a significant public health concern, causing an estimated 1.35 million cases in the U.S. annually, leading to approximately 26,500 hospitalizations and 420 deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Quaker is urging customers with the recalled products to discard them and contact their customer support line or visit the recall website for further information and reimbursement.

As of the recall announcement, Quaker says it has not received any reports of salmonella infections related to the recalled granola products. The affected products are among PepsiCo’s snack mixes which have been distributed across all 50 U.S. states and U.S. territories.
