These tips for your mental

Do you sometimes feel like you’re doing great physically and mentally, but deep down you know you could be doing better? It’s common for my clients…and myself!

It’s easy to deceive ourselves and believe we’re doing better than we truly are, but this can be detrimental to our fitness journey. Here are three ways to remove those false beliefs and be successful:

  1. Practice self-reflection: Take some time to reflect on your actions and thoughts. Are they aligned with your fitness goals? What are the areas you could improve on?
  2. Get feedback from others: Ask your friends, family, or a professional for feedback on your progress. Sometimes an outsider’s perspective can help you see things you may have missed.
  3. Measure your progress: Use objective measurements like body measurements, strength tests, or fitness assessments to track your progress. This will help you see if you’re really making the improvements you think you are.

In healthcare, I help nurses and physicians identify the baseline of we’re doing for our patients and determine if we’re truly doing the best for them… or if we’ve been ‘sitting in sh*t so long that we can’t smell the stench’. It’s easy to not notice issues you’ve come to understand as normal.

Remember, being honest with yourself is the first step towards achieving your goals. Don’t deceive yourself into thinking you’re doing better than you truly are. By removing those false beliefs and being honest with yourself, you’ll be one step closer to success.
