The MARTA rail station at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is set to close for six weeks starting in April for renovations. The closure is part of a $55 million project aimed at renovating the concourse and platform levels of the airport station. The construction project, ongoing since June 2022, includes structural work, vestibule replacement, and electrical upgrades.
During the six-week closure from April 8 to May 19, MARTA will provide shuttle service between the College Park station and the airport’s Terminal North lower level to ensure continued transit service for passengers and airport workers. The renovation project is designed to enhance the safety and appearance of the MARTA station at Hartsfield-Jackson, the world’s busiest airport.
MARTA recommends that travelers using the train during the closure allow an extra 30 minutes for their commute. Additional phases of the renovation project are planned, including ceiling and lighting replacement, elevator rehabilitation, new signs, a new RideStore, and a public art installation. These future phases may involve nightly closures for 10 months in 2025 and a potential second six-week closure for the installation of a canopy structure.
