Michael McNeely Announces Run for Mableton City Council, District 2

Public safety executive and longtime community leader Michael McNeely has officially announced his candidacy for Mableton City Council District 2 in the upcoming municipal election this November.
“I am committed to applying my knowledge and experience of how government works to help our city create an environment where everyone can prosper,” McNeely said in his announcement.
McNeely brings a proven track record of civic involvement, having served on the Cobb SPLOST Oversight Committee and the Cobb County Board of Education’s Facilities and Technology Committee (E-SPLOST). With a potential new SPLOST referendum on the horizon in 2026, McNeely emphasized the importance of collaborative leadership between Mableton and Cobb County to determine project priorities that benefit the community.
McNeely’s Key Campaign Priorities include:
- Smart Redevelopment
- Youth Education Initiatives
- Resources for Seniors and Veterans
- Public Safety and Community Policing
- Fiscal Responsibility and Transparency
McNeely’s emphasizes building strong, working relationships with residents, business leaders, non-profit organizations, and elected officials. He says these partnerships are essential to Mableton’s success.
“Your city councilperson must serve as an effective bridge between all local interests as we work to move our city forward,” McNeely stated.
McNeely is a Leadership Cobb 2024 graduate and an alum of the Cobb 101 Citizens Government Academy. He currently serves on multiple local boards, including MIC, WellStar Cobb Medical Center, and Cobb Collaborative. Currently, McNeely is in the current class of the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Leadership Institute.
With his extensive background in both public safety and civic engagement, McNeely says he’s ready to listen, lead, and act.
“I look forward to hearing the ideas and concerns of residents and business owners across District 2,” he added. “If elected, I will bring the knowledge, experience, and commitment needed for our community.”
