Metro Atlanta students awarded HBCU Scholarships from Cobb-based Delta Community Credit Union

Two metro Atlanta students have been awarded $5,000 each to help them continue their education at Historically Black Colleges and Universities from Cobb-based Delta Community Credit Union.

Isaiah Cox from Stone Mountain and Sydney Redmond from Conyers were named recipients of the credit union’s 2023 HBCU Scholarship Award.

The HBCU Scholarship Program awards students attending or planning to attend HBCUs and is done in partnership with radio station V-103. Both organizations know that education is the key to success and they want to help others succeed.

A pharmacy major at Florida A&M University, Cox will be a third-year student and plans to become a pharmacist. He is a licensed pharmacy technician in Georgia.

Redmond will be an incoming freshman at the North Carolina A&T Honors College. Her plans are to major in health sciences as she pursues becoming a dentist and focusing on providing dental services to underserved communities.

More than 430 entries were received during this application period for the Delta Community-V103 HBCU Scholarship. This year, the program will award a total of $20,000 to four scholarship winners. The next HBCU scholarship period opens in August and two more students will be awarded $5,000 each in November.
