Marietta man arrested, accused of child molestation and cruelty to children

A Marietta man, Brian Desharn Phillips, was arrested and accused of cruelty and molestation of an underage girl between Jan. 23, 2021 and Jan. 22, 2023 at the Homestay hotel at 1051 Canton Road in Marietta.
Phillips, 46, is charged with three counts of aggravated child molestation; aggravated sexual battery; four counts of cruelty to children – first degree; and child molestation felony.
According to the Marietta Police Department, Phillips, 46, is accused of performing sex acts on an underage girl Phillips and hiding controlled substances in her shirt during a residential search by his probation officer. He is also accused of engaging in another sex act on multiple occasions, sometimes at gunpoint, between Jan. 23, 2021 and July 31, 2023, according to the warrant.
According to jail records, Phillips was arrested on Jan. 30, and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. He remains in custody without bond.
