A Cobb County man, Steven Tran, will spend the remainder of his life in prison after a Gwinnett County convicted him of murdering two people and threatening a third individual at Lawrenceville home during a drug deal in 2020. Tran’s sentencing includes two consecutive life sentences plus an additional five years, with no eligibility for parole.

Tran, a 23-year-old resident of Kennesaw, Cobb County, faced multiple charges, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The verdict was reached last week in connection with the deaths of An Ha, 23, and Julian Talbo, 20.

The Assistant District Attorney, Anthony Volkodav, detailed for the jury how Tran had arranged to purchase two pounds of marijuana from Ha and Talbo at a home on Racquet Club Circle in unincorporated Lawrenceville on April 16, 2020.

Upon Tran’s arrival, he allegedly robbed and shot Ha and Talbo, resulting in their deaths. Investigators determined that 12 shots were fired during the incident. Additionally, Tran reportedly pointed a handgun at a woman, threatening to shoot her. Subsequently, Tran confessed to the shooting after police found evidence linking him to the crime at his home in Kennesaw.

Tran’s conviction included charges of two counts of malice murder and two counts of felony murder related to the deaths of Ha and Talbo. There were also three counts of aggravated assault charges, as well as the threat against the woman, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony charge.
