A Marietta High School student was arrested after being found with inappropriate content on his cell phone, Principal Marvin Crumbs informed families in an email on Friday.
Crumbs stated that the student was taken into custody by Marietta Police for downloading multiple videos involving the exploitation of minors. Authorities reportedly found the material while investigating the student for recording unsolicited videos of female classmates walking in the school hallway.
Principal Crumbs clarified that the videos on the students’ phone related to the arrest are not connected to Marietta High School or its students, noting that the illicit content was downloaded from the internet and not produced by the student. Marietta Police confirmed that there is currently no indication that the illegal material is tied to any Marietta City school or its students.
Crumbs further stated that the student will face disciplinary action for recording classmates without permission, and that the school is working to identify and notify any students who may have been filmed.
