After a Texas man was left critically injured, Marietta Police officers arrested Miguel Bacilio-Marquez for hit-and-run.

According to Public Information Officer Chuck McPhilamy, Bacilio-Marquez, 43, of Marietta, was booked on charges of serious injury by vehicle, hit-and-run, failure to maintain lane, and driving on a suspended license.

Police said the collision occurred last Sunday at approximately 11:38 p.m. as pedestrian Oscar Sanchez from Houston, Texas, was walking along Delk Road at Interstate 75.

The 40-year-old man was stuck by a white 1995 Ford F-150. The driver of the truck left the scene without calling 911 or attempting to render aid and was last seen getting on I-75 northbound from Delk Road.

Good Samaritans pulled over and helped Sanchez who was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. He remains there in critical condition fighting for his life. “It is simply unacceptable that you will strike someone and leave the scene without even trying to render aid,” said PIO McPhilamy.

Bacilio-Marquez was arrested days later and is being held at the Cobb County Jail without bond. Police are continuing to investigate the incident and ask that anyone with information about it contact Officer K. Bedford at 770-794-5364.
