A domestic dispute in a quiet Kennesaw neighborhood turned into a SWAT standoff after a stepfather called 911 to say he was being threatened by his stepson, Joey Holcomb, at the home located at 3217 Stonewall Drive.
This incident is the second SWAT incident in Kennesaw to occur within days of each other. Earlier last week, a different incident in a Kennesaw neighborhood had members of Cobb police’s SWAT team responding.
The earlier incident ended when a 42-year-old man threatening suicide carried out the threat and killed himself.
According to a warrant for Holcomb’s arrest, using a glass jar, gasoline, and a rag, he made a Molotov cocktail and attempted to barricade the door of the home of the person he threatened.
Officers responded and SWAT members, already on duty, also responded after Holcomb barricaded himself in a trailer parked on the property at the residence. Holcomb was eventually taken into custody by Cobb police SWAT members.
Holcomb is charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, obstruction of law enforcement, and possession of a destructive device in relation to the incident.
Jail records show that Holcomb is also charged with a probation violation stemming from an October 2022 event where he was charged with simple battery for threatening a family member with a large wooden stick at the same location as this incident.
Holcomb is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
