Tenisha Warner, the widow of beloved actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, has announced the launch of two initiatives honoring her late husband, who passed away in July at the age of 54.
In an Instagram post shared Friday, Tenisha introduced The Warner Family Foundation and River & Ember—projects designed to nurture children’s inner light, foster resilience, and support young artists. The announcement came on what would have been the couple’s wedding anniversary, a moment Tenisha marked by sharing a wedding photo from 2017 and a message of gratitude.
“Thank you for holding us in so much love during this tender time,” she wrote.
Warner, best known for his iconic role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, died tragically in a drowning accident while on vacation in Costa Rica. His passing stunned fans, colleagues, and admirers around the world.
The initiatives announced by Tenisha are deeply rooted in Warner’s spirit and values. River & Ember will provide seasonal toolkits for parents and children, offering resources in art, mindfulness, and connection to help strengthen emotional resilience. In her post, Tenisha described her husband’s enduring presence: “His presence was like a river—steady and sure. His spirit was an ember, glowing with encouragement and igniting possibility.”
The Warner Family Foundation will serve as a larger umbrella for efforts to empower young people, particularly through creativity, emotional well-being, and artistic growth.
Through these projects, Tenisha said she hopes to keep Warner’s memory alive in ways that reflect his generous spirit and his passion for uplifting others. “This is about continuing Malcolm’s legacy,” she noted, “by giving children and families the tools to thrive creatively and emotionally.”
For fans and loved ones, the initiatives stand as both a tribute to Warner’s life and a continuation of the light he shared with the world.
