Mableton Mayor Michael Owens selected to join the Bloomberg Center for Cites at Harvard program for new Mayors

Mableton Mayor Michael Owens announced his recent selection as one of the 27 newly-elected U.S. mayors participating in the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University’s Program for New Mayors: First 100 Days.
This program is delivered in collaboration with Bloomberg Philanthropies, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School.
As a participant in this program, Mayor Owens will receive world-class training from Harvard faculty, urban innovation and management experts, and fellow mayors on key aspects such as setting strategic citywide priorities, building effective city hall organizations, and delivering impactful solutions for residents.
The newly-elected mayors, representing 19 states and more than 8.7 million residents nationwide, form the new class of the Program for New Mayors.
Mayor Owens expressed gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing the invaluable insights that will empower him to create strategic priorities, foster innovation, and build an effective city government in collaboration with the City Council. He highlighted the honor of learning from esteemed faculty, government experts, and fellow mayors at Harvard.
In addressing the increasing global challenges faced by cities, the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard’s Program for New Mayors aims to assist new mayors in maximizing their roles. The program provides strategic insights to strengthen leadership and management skills, guide teams in collaborating across departments and sectors, and establish effective city hall organizations during the crucial first days and months in office.
