Mableton Government Elect

Share

After a November 2022 election approving the new city of Mableton, a primary in March, and a runoff in April, the first city government for the new city of Mableton was set with last week’s election.

Despite the low turnout, Dr. Michael Owens was elected to serve as the first Mayor of the city.

Also elected to the City Council was Ron Davis for District 1, who won his rave in the primary; Dami Oladapo for District 2, Keisha Jeffcoat for District 3, Patricia Auch for District 4, TJ Ferguson for District 5, and Debora Herndon for District 6, who also won her race during the primary.

The new government will get sworn in over the next few weeks and the work of the city begins June 1, per the Charter for Mableton.

The first task of the new government is putting some of the past issues behind them as they set a course for making the new city work while creating a tent large enough for all to stand under.
