Lithia Springs man arrested for allegedly shooting and killing Austell man

A Lithia Springs man, Nijier Drakeford, was arrested in Atlanta for allegedly shooting and killing a 20-year-old Austell man at the Lake Crossing Apartment Homes in Mableton on Friday January 26.
According to the Cobb County Police Department, Drakeford is accused of shooting Kenneth McGrew to death around 1:30 p.m. In the warrant for Drakeford’s arrest, Police alleged that Drakeford entered unit 1114 at the Lake Crossing apartments and shot McGrew. Upon responding to the scene, Police found McGrew with gunshot wounds. After being transported to the hospital, McGrew died from his wounds.
Police charged Drakeford with felony murder and possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime. After initially being taken into custody in Atlanta, Drakeford was booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. He is currently being held without a bond.
