Amani Johnson, a graduate senior at Kennesaw State University was recognized by the ASUN Conference as the organization’s nominee for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award.

Johnson, a basketball guard at KSU, was named one of two ASUN Conference nominees for the award and was selected by ASUN because of her outstanding achievements throughout her collegiate career.

During her time at Kennesaw State, Johnson has excelled both academically and athletically. She has been voted a two-time ASUN All-Conference selection, a three-time selection on the ASUN All-Academic Team, and landed a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV First Team while also serving as the Kennesaw State SGA President. The guard was also recently named an ASUN Winner for Life in April 2021, picking up the award for her outstanding work on and off the court.

The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service, and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions.

What an incredible honor of recognition for Amani, said head coach Octavia Blue. “She is a true example of ‘how you do anything, is how you do everything.’ All of the people here at KSU and the folks in the ASUN Conference know how special Amani is, now the country will soon find out. There is no one more deserving of being crowned NCAA Woman of the Year.”

Johnson ranked as the fourth-highest scorer in the ASUN last season, chipping in 13.1 points per game while also dishing 4.5 assists per game to rank fourth in the conference as well. She currently ranks fourth in scoring all-time at KSU with 1,350 points. A native of Pennsylvania, she needs just 103 points to become the all-time leader in points scored at Kennesaw State. She also holds the Kennesaw State career record for assists (485), steals (209) and minutes played (4,061).

Johnson earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting and is currently working on a master’s in business administration.
