Early morning shooting leaves Marietta man dead, another arrested

During the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 15, a Marietta man was shot and killed at an extended stay on South Cobb Drive. 

While in room 210 of the Cumberland Lodge Hotel, Ricky Haney, 31, was shot in the abdomen.  Haney died of his injuries after being transported to the hospital.

Clarence Mitchell, 28, of Marietta, was arrested following the incident and charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. According to the Cobb County Police Department, Mitchell told detectives that an initial altercation occurred between him and Haney on Tuesday, which led to a second altercation at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday. This allegedly led Mitchell to fire a single gunshot at Haney.
