District 39 Rep. Terry Cummings named “State Elected Official of the Year” by Georgia Advancing Communities Together, Inc.

State Representative Terry Cummings, a passionate and dedicated member of the Georgia House of Representatives, has been honored as the State Elected Official of the Year by Georgia Advancing Communities Together, Inc. (Geiorgia ACT). This prestigious award recognizes Cummings for her exceptional leadership, advocacy for social justice, and steadfast commitment to her Community. Georgia ACT plays a crucial role in advocating for safe, affordable housing and community development throughout the state.

As a statewide membership organization, Georgia ACT represents nonprofit housing and community development organizations, working to ensure that all Georgians have access to quality, affordable housing. Engaging a wide coalition of stakeholders, Georgia ACT promotes a more favorable policy environment for the nonprofit housing sector and raises awareness about key issues related to affordable housing.

Representing District 39, Cummings has made a significant impact since taking office in 2023. Her diverse background in law, law enforcement, and academia has uniquely positioned her to champion policies that promote equity, opportunity, and justice for all Georgians, particularly those from vulnerable and underserved communities.  “I am both honored and humbled to receive this recognition,” said Cummings. “This award is not just a reflection of my work, but of the incredible people in my district who inspire me every day. Together, we will continue to fight for justice, opportunity, and progress.”

As she prepares to enter her second term, Cummings says she remains focused on uplifting her constituents and advancing the values of equity and inclusion in the Georgia House of Representatives.
