Community leader, Rev. Coakley Pendergrass, celebrates 80th birthday

A joyous occasion recently occurred within our community as Reverend Coakley Pendergrass, the esteemed founder of the Georgia Community Coalition, celebrated his 80th birthday surrounded by the love and warmth of family and friends.

Hosted by his wife Deborah and daughter Dominique, the celebration took place at his home, where well-wishers gathered to honor and commemorate the life of this remarkable community leader and activist. It was a heartwarming event filled with joy, laughter, and the shared appreciation for the positive impact Rev. Pendergrass has had on the community.

Rev. Pendergrass, a retired New York police officer and associate pastor at Turner Chapel AME in Marietta, shared warm stories with those gathered to celebrate him. Among the distinguished guests who joining in the celebration were State Senator Donzella James, State Rep. Terry Cummings, community activist Sharon Hill, community leader Betty Ann Cook, and Spotlight Publisher Shelia Edwards. Their presence, as well as others in attendance, added to the collective expression of gratitude and admiration for Rev. Pendergrass’s contributions to our community.
