A Mableton man was involved in a serious vehicle accident early on Sunday morning, resulting in significant injuries.

Cobb County police say that around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, Yancy McWeay, 21, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Impala in the westbound direction on Nickajack Road, passing Gambrell Road.

His vehicle veered off the road, entered a vegetated area, and descended into a small drainage ditch. At the bottom of the ditch, the car collided with and uprooted one tree before striking a second tree. The vehicle came to a halt in the eastbound lane of Nickajack Road following the collision.

McWeay sustained severe injuries as a result of the crash and was subsequently transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital by Puckett Ambulance Service.

The incident is currently under investigation by Cobb County Police to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash and any contributing factors.  Anyone with information relevant to the accident are urged to contact the Department at 770-499-3987.
