Calling All Candidates: Qualifying Begins this week for Two Cobb County Commission Posts

Share

The election season in Cobb continues with two Cobb County Commission posts up for grabs in early 2025. A special election has been ordered by a Cobb County Superior Court Judge after ruling that the Chair Lisa Cupid’s use of home rule powers to draw its commission maps was unconstitutional.

The Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration (BOER) has announced the dates for the Special Elections for Cobb County Commissioner Districts 2 and 4. Qualifying will take place from December 18 to December 20. The Primary Election is set for February 11, 2025, with a possible runoff election scheduled for March 11, 2025, if needed. The General Special Election will take place on April 29, 2025.

Candidates in the Race

Attorney Yashica Marshall has already announced her intentions to run for District 4, while many speculate that former state lawmaker Erick Allen may also join the race for District 2. As the qualifying dates approach, the field for both districts is expected to continue taking shape, with other potential candidates stepping forward.
