BREAKING NEWS: Georgia Supreme Court rules that Cobb County’s 3000 absentee ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. today to count

The Georgia Supreme Court ruled on Monday that Cobb County can only count absentee ballots received by 7 p.m. on Election Day. This decision overturned an earlier ruling by Cobb Superior Court Judge Robert Flournoy, which had extended the deadline for over 3,000 voters who received their ballots late due to delays by Cobb Elections.
Under the new order, ballots received after the 7 p.m. Tuesday deadline will be set aside and preserved but may not be counted unless further court action allows it. Voters are strongly encouraged to return their absentee ballots by the Tuesday deadline or vote in person if possible.
The Republican National Committee and Georgia GOP, who appealed the extension, argued that voters could cast ballots in person on Election Day. The plaintiffs, represented by the ACLU and SPLC, argued that some voters may face barriers that prevent in-person voting.
If you know of anyone that falls into this category, please encourage them to turn in their ballots today at the elections office or go to their polling location to vote in person.
