In 2025, the spotlight of the MLB All-Star game will shine brightly on Atlanta, marking a triumphant return after a four-year hiatus. The city’s bid to host this major sporting event was successfully secured after the league controversially relocated the 2021 game to Colorado after political tensions erupted surrounding Georgia’s election law.
While the exact date is yet to be announced, Atlanta’s turn will follow Texas in 2024 and precede Philadelphia in 2026. This will be a significant moment for Truist Park, which will be hosting its first All-Star game, despite Atlanta having welcomed the event in 2000 and 1972.
The decision to award Atlanta the 2025 All-Star game was accompanied by commendations from MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. He praised the efforts of Terry McGuirk, Derek Schiller, the entire Braves organization, and the Atlanta Sports Council, citing the Braves as a model of success both on and off the field. Anticipating a world-class experience at Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta, Manfred expressed eagerness to collaborate with the Braves and local leaders to create a memorable All-Star Week.
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens enthusiastically welcomed the return of the game, stating, “More than a year away from the first pitch of the game, we already know the winner of the 2025 MLB All-Star Game — Atlanta.” Dickens highlighted the economic impact on the local community, expressing confidence that Atlanta, with its impressive lineup of sporting events, has solidified its status as the sports capital of the nation.
The Braves Chairman, Terry McGuirk, said in a statement: “We are thrilled that Major League Baseball has awarded the Atlanta Braves the 2025 All-Star Game. Time and time again, Atlanta has proven to be a world-class destination for the most exciting entertainment and sporting events. I am excited that baseball fans will have the opportunity to experience Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta along with all this area has to offer. Over the coming months, we look forward to working alongside MLB to create memorable experiences that will showcase and support our community.”
