Cobb County Police have charged Donte Leon Hale of Atlanta in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred last week at a Cumberland hotel.

According to his arrest warrant, Hale is accused of using a handgun to fatally shoot Demarcus Watson, 26, around 11:40 a.m. on Nov. 28 at the Budgetel Inns & Suites — Atlanta Galleria Stadium, located near the corner of Circle 75 Parkway and Windy Hill Road.

Hale faces charges of felony murder and aggravated assault, as well as two gun-related charges linked to being a convicted felon. The warrant notes that Hale was convicted of a felony in DeKalb County in 2003.

On the morning of the shooting, Cobb police officers responded to the hotel following reports of a person shot. Upon arrival, they discovered Watson with a gunshot wound. Despite attempts to administer lifesaving measures at the scene, Watson died from his injuries.
