Civil rights icon Andrew Young Jr., will serve as the keynote speaker at the Georgia Symphony Orchestra’s annual Celebrity Luncheon fundraiser on March 18 at the Marietta Country Club.
Marietta Country Club executive chef Gary Sanderson and his team have planned a specially created three-course menu for the event. The GSO luncheon is a benefit with proceeds used to support classical, jazz and pop musical performances, outreach programs and youth education, through the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra — one of the 10 largest such programs in the country.
Young, who previously served as ambassador to the United Nations, Georgia congressman, and Mayor of Atlanta and will be joined at the luncheon by a group of local artists, authors, musicians and business leaders.
In addition to a specially prepared meal, guests of the luncheon will be offered the opportunity to bid on various items including rare trinkets, fine art, and everyday splurges during the silent and live auction.
Founded in Marietta in 1951, the GSO has become one of Georgia’s finest community-supported, multifaceted performing arts organizations.
Ticket prices start at $50 and must be purchased in advance online here.
