24-Hour Boycott of Major Retailers Planned on Feb. 28

Share

On February 28, consumers are planning a 24-hour boycott of large retailers such as Walmart, Amazon, and Target to protest the scaling back and elimination of DEI policies in corporate America and to challenge corruption in various industries. The message of this protest has made its way across the country, with supporters tweeting, texting, and emailing to urge others to avoid shopping on this day.

The protest, dubbed an “economic blackout,” encourages participants to refrain from shopping in stores or online for the day. Those needing essential items are urged to shop before the 28th and to support local small businesses instead.

The boycott is being heavily promoted by the John Schwarz, founder of The People’s Union, who has spread the message through viral Instagram posts. In a video, Schwarz called out issues like low wages, inflation, and political corruption, stating, “They have taken everything from us while convincing us that we should be grateful for the scraps, and that ends now. On Feb. 28, we are going to remind them who really holds the power.”

Schwarz also emphasized that the February 28 boycott is just the beginning. “A 24-hour blackout is just the first step, it’s a test,” he said. “If enough of us participate, they will feel it. If they don’t listen, we escalate. The next one will last for three days, targeting specific industries. The next one forces them to respond. This is not just a boycott, this is economic warfare.”
