Today’s Spotlight is on Attorney Yashica Marshall, who is running for Cobb County Commissioner of District 4. Yashica brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the table as a candidate in this race.

As a practicing attorney with a focus on juvenile justice and a background in biomedical science, she possesses a unique skill set that she’s eager to leverage for the betterment of the community.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Yashica is deeply involved in various aspects of community life in Cobb County. She serves on the Board of Directors for the DDD Foundation and on the Alumni Board for her law school, which showcases  her commitment to giving back and fostering positive change.

Yashica is also a small business owner. Managing a local Sports Tournament League, along with her entrepreneurial spirit, reflects her drive to create opportunities and enhance local engagement.

Yashica says her decision to run for commissioner stems from her belief that Cobb County stands at a pivotal juncture. She envisions a future where the community’s needs are prioritized over political bickering and where fiscal responsibility, trust, and thoughtful development prevail.

A formidable candidate for this position, Yashica says she is prepared to hit the ground running on Day 1. She is ready to use her extensive experience in policy, regulatory review, and contracting to address the challenges facing District 4 head-on. Yashica points to  wanting  to build a stronger, more united Cobb County—a place where every voice is heard, and every community thrives.

As a longtime resident of South Cobb, Yashica understands the issues facing the community firsthand. Her vision for change is rooted in a deep love for South Cobb and a desire to see it thrive under thoughtful and inclusive leadership.

Yashica lives in Mableton with husband Shaheem, and nephew/son Kobe. In her personal life, Yashica cherishes her roles as a wife, auntie, daughter, sister, and dog mom. She comes from a family with a proud military tradition, instilling in her a sense of duty and service to others. Both her sister and grandfather were awarded  purple hearts and her father served in the same branch.

Yashica loves to write poetry, cook, watch old black and white shows, spend time with her family, and give counsel to those in need. Says Yashica, “I fancy myself as a change agent and an advocate for those in need. I love South Cobb but I don’t like the lack of consideration it’s been given over the last few administrations. I want to change that. I want to move us in a direction that puts a smile on our faces no matter where we are in Cobb. I want our decision to settle in Cobb to forever be the right decision. I want and will fight for my Community. I want Cobbunity.”

Yashica says her campaign is not just about winning an election; it’s about ushering in a new era of compassionate and effective governance. She invites residents of Cobb County to join her in this journey towards a brighter future. If you want to learn more about Yashica, visit her campaign website: https://yashicamarshall4cobb.com
