Woman accused of stabbing man to death in Marietta arrested in VA

Police have arrested a Philadelphia woman, Keiyotta India Cooper, for murder after she allegedly stabbed a man to death at a Marietta motel in June. Cooper, 30, is accused of fatally stabbing 37-year-old Dearish Morris of Marietta on June 21. 

According to the Marietta Police Department, the stabbing took place at around 4 p.m.at the Hospitality Inn near Interstate 75 at 2390 Delk Road. Police say Cooper was visiting Morris in his motel room and for unknown reasons, Cooper stabbed Morris multiple times.

The Police report said that Cooper concealed Morris’s body when a motel staffer knocked on the door to collect rent. She then took a vehicle which Morris had borrowed and fled the state. Motel discovered Morris’ body and called 911. 

Investigators described finding him dead on his bed in “extremely suspicious circumstances.”Officers were dispatched to the hotel and the vehicle was tracked by GPS traveling into Virginia by its owner, who notified police. Later that evening, sheriff’s deputies in Caroline County, Virginia, pulled the vehicle over and took Cooper into custody, Marietta police said.

Cooper is being held at the Caroline County jail in Virginia on unrelated charges awaiting extradition to Georgia. In the stabbing case, she is charged with murder, theft by taking and aggravated assault.

The investigation into the stabbing death of Morris is ongoing. Police ask that anyone with information contact Detective Reyes at 770- 794-5363.
