Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center and Wellstar Windy Hill Hospital have appointed Lorrie Liang as their new president. In addition, Liang will serve as Senior Vice President of the Wellstar Health System.
Liang joins Wellstar from Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she currently serves as president, overseeing a range of critical functions including 900 beds, 6,400 employees, 1,300 medical staff, and a Level II trauma center in southwest Florida.
With 25 years of extensive experience in hospital operations, service lines, physician practices, graduate medical education, and research across academic and community healthcare settings, Liang is well-equipped to lead Wellstar Kennestone and Wellstar Windy Hill. She holds a Master of Health Services Administration degree from The George Washington University School of Business and an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Liang succeeds Mary Chatman, who now serves as Executive Vice President of Acute Care Operations for Wellstar, overseeing operations across the health system’s 11 hospitals, post-acute services, and emergency departments. Chatman expressed confidence in Liang’s ability to navigate the complexities of leading both Kennestone and Windy Hill hospitals. Liang’s responsibilities include leading Kennestone’s executive team, fostering collaboration with other Wellstar markets, partnering with the physician enterprise, and engaging with key community stakeholders to continue the hospitals’ recent successes.
