The Walker School, a private school in Marietta, saw one of its teachers arrested this week and charged with distributing obscene material to a minor.
In an email to parents, school officials say Matt Anderson, 37, an 8th grade teacher who taught students social studies and coached varsity lacrosse and football at the Walker School, had been arrested.
According to the email, school officials say Cobb police officers arrived on the campus and asked to speak to Anderson, who had taught at the school since 2019. A warrant was filed by Cobb Police officers and Anderson was later arrested. The school said it did not have any additional information regarding the allegations against Anderson but were cooperating with Cobb County Police.
As the school conducts an internal investigation, they said “Effective immediately, Matt has been placed on administrative leave and will not have access to campus or school technology.”
Jail records reflect that Anderson was booked into the Cobb County jail on Wednesday and released on Thursday after he posted a $15,000 bond.
