A tragic multi car crash in South Cobb claimed the life of one woman and left five others hospitalized, including three children, following a devastating collision on Factory Shoals Road, just north of South Gordon Road in Mableton. The crash occurred on Tuesday evening, around 5:50 p.m.
According to authorities, the crash unfolded when a Nissan Kicks, driven by 55-year-old Sylvia Williamson of Austell, crossed the double yellow line and entered the northbound lanes. The Nissan collided with a 2018 Ford F-150 before striking two additional vehicles. In the Nissan with Williamson were a 1-year-old boy, a 3-year-old girl, and an 8-year-old girl, along with two women aged 28 and 25.
The crash continued as the Nissan then struck a 2010 Dodge Dakota before engaging in a head-on collision with a 2001 Acura MDX, causing it to spin counterclockwise. The Nissan came to a rest across both northbound lanes. Tragically, Sylvia Williamson succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The two youngest children and two female passengers were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, while the 8-year-old girl was rushed to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite with severe injuries. Additionally, the driver of the Acura sustained injuries as well.
