A Smyrna man, Eduardo Diaz, was sentenced by Cobb Superior Court Judge Angela Brown to 15 years in prison, followed by 15 years of probation, for child molestation.
Cobb District Attorney Flynn Broady Jr. announced that Diaz, 38, pleaded guilty to both child molestation and aggravated molestation.
During a family therapy session, the victim, an underage girl, disclosed the abuse years later. During their investigation, Diaz admitted to Marietta Police Department detectives that he molested the girl while her mother was away from the home between May 1, 2017, and Sept. 1, 2023.
Said Broady on the guilty plea, “Guarding our children is a shared duty. Their innocence holds our future, and it’s our responsibility to protect and nurture that future. In the pursuit of justice, our office will continue to advocate for those who cannot defend themselves, to ensure that the perpetrators of crimes against our children face the full force of the law.”
