During the annual Fright Fest event at Six Flags Over Georgia, a tragic incident unfolded as a female employee, identified as Andrea Crook, of Villa Rica, lost her life. According to authorities, Crook, 43, sustained fatal injuries after falling out of a van on the park’s premises and hitting her head. The incident occurred shortly before 5:15 p.m. on Sunday. Crook received initial treatment at the scene and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she ultimately succumbed to her life-threatening injuries.
Police say that preliminary investigation revealed that Crook was among several Six Flags employees who were in the cargo area of a van on the park’s property. She fell from the back of the van as it traversed an uphill and left-hand curve on Harbor Way, which led to Crook’s severe head injury upon impact with the pavement. The specific circumstances that led to her falling from the van’s rear doors were not disclosed by officials.
Fright Fest, a seasonal event spanning approximately six weeks from mid-September to Halloween, brings additional attractions such as haunted houses, themed “scare zones,” and Halloween shows to the park’s regular operations. The event necessitates the hiring of numerous temporary workers.
No charges have been announced in connection with the incident at this time. Anyone with information relevant to this incident are asked to contact Cobb County Police Detectives at 770-499-3987.
