Senior Medicare Wellness Days in Fulton County offers free health screenings to senior residents 

Fulton County seniors with Medicare Part B can now receive free wellness screenings at seven senior centers across the county, from East Point to Sandy Springs. This service is part of the Senior Medicare Wellness Days initiative, a collaboration between the Fulton County Department of Senior Services and Grady Health System.

These wellness screenings are designed for residents aged 65 and older and aim to provide essential health care services close to home. The Annual Wellness Visit, as described by Grady, is an opportunity for seniors to discuss their physical and emotional well-being, review screenings, vaccinations, blood tests, and other diagnostic exams, and create a plan to monitor their health. Although it is not a full physical exam, the visit includes updating personal and medical information, checking blood pressure, height, and weight, screening for memory changes, assessing movement ability and falling risk, and providing a written preventive screening plan for the next few years. End-of-life planning is also offered.

During these visits, seniors can connect with wellness programs and support groups for chronic conditions, and enroll in interactive educational workshops. The program, funded by Medicare Part B, will continue until the end of the year and may be renewed annually through 2027. To qualify, patients must have had Medicare Part B coverage for over a year and not have had an annual wellness visit in that time. Additional tests may incur copays or deductible expenses.

• Dogwood Neighborhood Senior Center, 1953 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW, Atlanta

• Southeast Neighborhood Senior Center, 1650 New Town Circle SE, Atlanta
