Cobb County, GA – Cobb County recently became a hub for leadership, civic engagement, and regional collaboration as Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. hosted its largest-ever 7th District Meeting.

Held March 25–29 at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel & Convention Center, the conference drew 1,447 members from across Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama. Total participation reached 1,672 attendees when including spouses and guests—underscoring the growing reach and influence of the organization.

The event, organized by Cobb County’s graduate and undergraduate chapters, represented the culmination of more than two years of planning. Local leadership highlighted the conference not just as a logistical success, but as a meaningful gathering centered on service, leadership, and community impact.

Beyond attendance, the conference featured prominent voices in business, education, and public service. Derrick Johnson, president of the NAACP and a member of the fraternity, delivered the keynote address and emphasized the importance of civic participation—particularly with upcoming elections. He also met with fraternity members focused on voter education and mobilization efforts.

Additional speakers included Virgil Miller of Aflac, F. DuBois Bowman of Morehouse College, and Kathy Schwaig of Kennesaw State University—highlighting the conference’s broad influence across sectors.

The event also spotlighted emerging leaders and talent. Zengar Coggins was inducted into the 7th District Honor Society, while Elijah Winslett of Huntsville, Alabama, earned top honors in the district’s Talent Hunt competition, receiving a $1,800 scholarship.

For Cobb County, the conference marked a significant moment—bringing together leaders, professionals, and students from across the Southeast while reinforcing the fraternity’s long-standing commitment to service and community advancement.
