Qualifying in South Cobb Municipal Elections

Municipal candidates, comprised of incumbents, challengers, and first-time candidates came out this week to place their names in contention as they qualified for the 2021 elections in November. Candidates are running for office in three South Cobb cities including Austell, Marietta, and Powder Springs.
Austell
Post 1 at-large Councilwoman Melanie Maria Elder
Ward 1 Councilman Marlin Lamar Jr.
Ward 3 Councilwoman Meredith L. Adams is running for the post vacated by Randy P. Green.
Marietta
Mayor Steve Tumlin is opposed by Marietta Councilwoman Michelle Cooper Kelly.
Ward 1 Councilwoman Cheryl Richardson
Ward 3 Councilman Johnny Walker
Ward 7 Councilman Joseph R. Goldstein
Ward 2 Councilman Grif Chalfant is opposed by John Silvey.
Ward 4 Councilman Andy Morris is opposed by Ted Ferreira.
Ward 5 Councilman Reginald Maurice Copeland is opposed by M. Carlyle Kent and Cristina Stallworth.
Ward 6 left vacant by Kelly’s run for mayor, Andre Sims is running for that post.
Powder Springs
Ward 1 Henry Lust
Ward 2 Doris Dawkins
Ward 3 Councilwoman Nancy Farmer is opposed by Dwayne Green.
The City of Smyrna does not have election qualifying this year.
