Attorney General Chris Carr has announced that four individuals, including one already incarcerated, have pleaded guilty and received prison sentences in connection with a gang-related shooting that took place in Cobb County in 2021.
The individuals involved, Nicholas Poole, James Daniels, Bryce Dowell, along with inmate Thomas Williams, were sentenced for their roles in a drive-by shooting at a Marietta apartment complex in June 2021.
Poole, Daniels, and Dowell, identified as members of the 2Solid gang with ties to the Bloods, pleaded guilty on October 24.
They were charged with various offenses, including violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first-degree criminal damage to property, and second-degree criminal damage to property.
The trio received a 25-year sentence, with the first 13 years to be served in prison.
Williams, a member of the Good Product Team (GPT), an older Cobb County hybrid gang, was in jail when police say he coordinated the shooting from prison using a contraband cell phone. Williams pleaded guilty on September 18 to charges similar to his accomplices, except for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was sentenced to 15 years, with the first four to be served in prison.
The charges against the four individuals stem from their involvement in the drive-by shooting, which occurred at a Marietta apartment complex on June 25, 2021. The incident resulted in significant property damage to two apartment units, with numerous shell casings found at the scene.
According to Carr, surveillance video revealed that Poole, Daniels, Dowell, and Williams borrowed a vehicle to carry out the shooting and the vehicle owner informed the police about their involvement. The shooting was deemed gang-related, but specific information about the targeted individuals was not provided.
Following the shooting in Cobb County, Daniels, Dowell, and Poole—were apprehended at a residence in Hiram on June 28. A search warrant was executed at the location, leading to the discovery of several firearms that were determined to match those used in the Cobb County shooting.
The trio was also implicated in connection with another shooting in Buckhead that occurred prior to the Marietta shooting. On May 15, 2021, Daniels, Dowell, and Poole allegedly initiated a shooting at the Peninsula at Buckhead on Piedmont Road.
During this incident, multiple rounds were fired in the direction of a Home Depot located nearby, resulting in injuries to three individuals in the Home Depot parking lot who were considered bystanders.
