Police seek help after woman loses unborn child in Austell crash

The Cobb Police Department is seeking the publics’ help for information following a tragic incident on New Year’s Eve.
A car accident, west of downtown Austell, caused a pregnant woman to lose her unborn child. The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Humphries Hill and Mill Branch roads.
According to a Cobb County Police spokesperson, the unborn child of 41-year-old Eunice Osei Gyasi died at Grady Memorial Hospital on January 1, 2024, as a result of the crash.
The collision involved a Toyota 4Runner driven by Alexander Osei Gyasi, 41, of Fayetteville, with Eunice Osei Gyasi as a passenger. The 4Runner was traveling east on Humphries Hill Road when it collided head-on with a Toyota Tacoma driven by 31-year-old Zachary Williams Scott of Mableton, who was heading west.
The impact redirected both vehicles, with the Tacoma coming to a final uncontrolled rest in a southeast direction, and the 4Runner in a northwest direction.
Alexander Osei Gyasi and Eunice Osei Gyasi sustained serious injuries and were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. Scott and his passenger, Sally Williams, 41, of Douglasville, were also taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Cobb Police has not determined potential criminal charges related to the crash, which remains under investigation.
