Minor setback for major comeback, that’s my favorite

Share

Setbacks – those common hurdles like injuries, illnesses, holidays, or changes in schedule can sometimes derail our fitness journey. These setbacks can actually be great opportunities to learn, grow, and build the resilience and determination needed to be successful in both our fitness journey and in life.

Here are three actionable ways to overcome setbacks and turn them into opportunities for growth:

1. Reframe Your Mindset: Instead of seeing setbacks as roadblocks, view them as opportunities to learn more about yourself, your body, and your mind. Embrace the challenge and use it as a chance to develop resilience, determination, and problem-solving skills. Reframe your mindset to see setbacks as temporary obstacles that can be overcome with perseverance and a positive attitude.

2. Adjust Your Plan: When faced with setbacks, it’s important to adjust your fitness plan accordingly. This could mean modifying your workouts to accommodate an injury, finding alternative exercises or activities during an illness, or creating a new schedule to accommodate changes in your routine. Be flexible, adapt, progress!

3. Seek Support: Don’t be afraid to reach out for support when facing setbacks. Surround yourself with a supportive community, whether it’s friends, family, or fitness professionals, who can provide encouragement, guidance, and accountability.

I recently shared a hip setback that’s been affecting my sleep, and how I sought help from @drjoycenguyen x @myodetox. The above reel includes some mobility exercises we’ve worked on to bring balance to my quads – hamstrings and power to my hips. Incorporate some mobility in your routine and give these a try!
