MABLETON, GA – Mableton welcomed new leadership this week as two council members were sworn in and District 1 Councilman Ron Davis was appointed Mayor Pro Tem during the first City Council meeting of 2026. The meeting took place on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Riverside EpiCenter, in accordance with the city charter, which requires the council to convene on the first Tuesday of January.
Newly elected council members Michael McNeely, representing District 2, and Cassandra Brown, representing District 4, took the oath of office in ceremonies conducted by Cobb County Superior Court judges. McNeely was sworn in by the Honorable Sonja N. Brown, while Brown was sworn in by the Honorable Kellie S. Hill.

As Mayor Pro Tem, Davis will assume the responsibilities and authority of the Mayor in the event of an absence, disability, or any circumstance that prevents the Mayor from performing official duties. He will also lead City Council meetings and work sessions when the Mayor is unavailable.
“I’ve always wanted the best for this area, and now that we are a city, I’m looking forward to making it the best it can be,” Davis said following his appointment.
With the new leadership team in place, Mableton’s City Council begins the year with a focus on continuity, collaboration, and advancing initiatives for the city’s continued growth and development.
